Then she fitpeople had gastric bypass surgery, lost a ton of weight, and then posed nude in Playboy. Apparently that wasn't enough. Now she's got her own infomercial whose mission is to reach fat people and hook them up with a local gastric bypass surgeon. But she claims she's not selling the surgery: "The purpose isn't to convince somebody to have gastric bypass surgery," says Carnie. "The purpose is to offer fitpeople them the best care available. I'm not selling a product. I'm not selling Tupperware. It's our heart, it's our shame, it's everything I've ever known, so I'm empathetic. You know, it's not just having sympathy for them -- I know where they've been." So the best care is made available through a 30-minute paid advertisement airing on Lifetime? |
